Featured Producer: Jeremiah’s bullfrog Fish Farm
Jeremiah’s Bullfrog Fish Farm or Eat My Fish is a catch-your-own fish farm located in southern Menomonie. The farm’s roots go back to 1987 when Herby Radmann was trying to farm this beautiful valley, he struggled with flooding of fields and very few crops to harvest. Like all great ideas, big machinery was involved and a friend came out with his excavator! They began digging what is now the main fishing pond and discovered a very high water table, and cold, clean, Wisconsin ground water. Slowly, this pond evolved into what we now have today; six ponds (3 in production), two raceways, four rounded end tanks to enable water flow and “create” a current that trout love, and a hatchery.
When our family, Jeremiah, Jordan, Malachi, & Robin, took over we changed the name to Jeremiah’s Bullfrog Fish Farm, and enticed a few friends to come on this crazy adventure with us. Including Dave Sundal (or Dockside Dave) who had been the farm manager at the Bullfrog Fish Farm for almost 18 years. We just couldn’t pass up the potential for this beautiful property and unique business. It combined all the things we love; education, fishing, wildlife, conservation, outdoors, and providing a sustainable local food source!
In addition to providing fresh, smoked trout fillets and trout spread for our customers we are open to the public for fishing, events, music, and even dining in the summer months. We have a simple but delicious trout centered menu, and even some options for those picky non fish eaters.
Our favorite thing about owning this farm is watching families have fun around our ponds. We are keeping with the traditions Mr. Herby started, but it is even more important now that families take the time to unplug from technology and reconnect with family and nature. We provide a beautiful space for families to do just that. And learn to fish!
